Senior Health Specialist

Mohamed Vadel Taleb El Hassen is a Senior Health Specialist at the World Bank, based in Niamey. He leads a health system strengthening program in Burkina Faso and supports Niger’s efforts to expand access to quality health services. His technical expertise spans fiscal space analysis, equity in service use, strategic purchasing, and integrating performance-based financing into public financial management.

Before joining the World Bank, Mohamed Vadel held senior positions in Mauritania’s Ministry of Health. With over two decades of experience in health economics and systems strengthening, he brings deep knowledge and practical insights to his work. He is the lead author of “Changes in Inequality in Use of Maternal Health Care Services: Evidence from Skilled Birth Attendance in Mauritania, 2007–2015” (Int. J. Environ. Res. Public Health, 2022; https://doi.org/10.3390/ijerph19063566).

A native Arabic speaker, Mohamed Vadel also works in French and English and speaks Spanish. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his family building bond and building the future generation.
