Stéphanie Leyronas has been a Research Officer at the Agence française de développement (AFD) since 2014. Her work focuses on the links between the preservation and production of commons and broader development dynamics. She joined AFD in 2000 and, over a nine-year period, was responsible for the appraisal and supervision of AFD-funded water and sanitation programs in numerous countries across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. She subsequently served for four years as Deputy Head of AFD’s Water and Sanitation Division. In 2014, she joined the Economic Diagnostics and Public Policy Department, where she initiated and developed a research program on the commons. In this role, she conducts original research, designs analytical tools in connection with the AFD Group’s operational activities and policy dialogue, and contributes to promoting AFD’s distinctive positioning on this issue at the international level.
