This week, we are starting a new series where those of you on the job market will be blogging drawing on their dissertation work. As you will remember, about 3 weeks ago we invited you to submit your JM papers to Development Impact. Many of you did, and we have subsequently invited some of you to be a guest blogger for a day.
Tomorrow, Jing Cai (UC Berkeley) will start things off by discussing social networks and insurance decisions in China. On Wednesday, David Phillips (Georgetown) will tell us about taking the bus to opportunity, here in Washington, DC. Thursday, it's Kaveh Majlesi's turn (UT Austin) to discuss the impact of job opportunities for women on their bargaining power and their daughters' health. On Friday, Ole Dahl Rasmussen (University of Southern Denmark) will discuss the need for a trial registry for development interventions.
We will continue with a few more of these guest posts in the upcoming weeks. Some of you have asked, and, no, it is NOT too late to submit your JM paper if you'd like to blog about it. Email your paper to developmentimpactblog@gmail.com. Please remember: you don’t get mad or interpret it as a negative signal about your paper if we don’t contact you- it will depend on how many papers we get sent and our tastes. We plan to run a few more of these until the end of February, when the JM is starting to come to a close.
