Head of Profession, UK Department for International Development (DFID)
Dr. Chris Berry is the Head of Profession for the UK's Department for International Development. Before taking up his current post at DFID, he worked as DFID’s senior education adviser in Ethiopia. In this role, he helped to implement a $400 million Ethiopian government-led programme to improve the quality of primary and secondary education, reaching over 15 million children. He has also worked as a teacher and teacher trainer in Belize, the Turks and Caicos Islands, Indonesia and Sierra Leone. He has a PhD from the Institute of Education, University of London, for which he conducted research into the impact on learning outcomes of multigrade teaching.
