Courtney Ivins is a Consultant for the Public Service and Performance Unit for Latin America and the Caribbean, within the World Bank’s Governance Global Practice. She joined the World Bank in 2015, after three years working with the United Nations in Tanzania, as both a gender specialist and a project manager for UNESCO’s Communication and Information program. She has a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University, and a Master’s degree from Pontifícia Universidade Católica in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where she was awarded a Fulbright scholarship for her research on women's leadership in favelas, and on the use of ICTs to improve government accountability and public services. Her other experience at NGO’s and academic institutions in the US, Brazil, and Zambia has focused on access to, legal services, sustainable urban development, and inequality in emerging economies.
