Guy Hutton is a development economist. He has previously held positions at the University of London, the University of Basel and the World Bank. He has lead country implementation projects, international research studies and global advocacy initiatives in the fields of water, health, air pollution and climate change.
 
From 2006 to 2015 he led the global “economics of sanitation initiative” for the World Bank Water and Sanitation Program. From 2011 to 2013 he coordinated the process to select global water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) targets and indicators after 2015 for the WHO/UNICEF Joint Monitoring Program (JMP).
 
He currently leads knowledge development and management for UNICEF WASH section globally, as well as the implementation of the WASH bottleneck analysis tool (BAT), the UNICEF public financing for children (PF4C) initiative for WASH, and the development of a global monitoring framework for WASH affordability for the JMP.
