Helle Buchhave, Senior Social Development Specialist, is the World Bank Regional Gender Coordinator for the East Asia and Pacific Region. She is based in Washington DC, where she leads the the East Asia and Pacific regional gender program and coordinates gender staff representatives of the World Bank Global Practices and country gender focal points in EAP. She leads major regional and country level technical assistance and analytical projects on social inclusion across the region, with several focused in the Energy and Transport sector. She has worked extensively on corporate and country strategies. Ms. Buchhave joined the World Bank in 2004 mainly worked in the Africa and East Asia Pacific Regions of the Bank. Prior to joining the World Bank, she was based in Lao PDR, as manager of the Poverty Unit of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). Ms. Buchhave is a Danish national, holding a BA in Geography and MSc in Human Geography from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark.
