Juan Barón is a senior economist in the Education Global Practice, where he works on analytical and lending activities in the South Asia and Latin America and Caribbean regions. Juan has worked on analysis and operations in the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jordan, and Pakistan and has supported teams in the Middle East and North Africa, Latin America, and the Caribbean, South Asia, and Sub-Saharan Africa regions. Dr. Barón uses quantitative and qualitative research methods, such as impact evaluations, to explore issues such as labor, gender, and the economics of education, among others. Prior to his current position, he worked at the World Bank's Poverty Unit in Africa and at the Central Bank of Colombia. He has a PhD in Economics from the Australian National University. Dr. Baron is also the subject leader of the Service Delivery and Management Capability Group, is a member of EdTech, and has led the implementation of right-level teaching approaches using adaptive software.
