Şebnem Erol Madan is a Manager within the Infrastructure Finance, PPPs and Guarantees global practice. She oversees the Financial Structuring & PPPs unit, which comprises specialists in PPPs, infrastructure finance, and financial structuring. The unit supports client countries to crowd the private sector into infrastructure investments—in a sustainable and affordable manner—through capacity building, project structuring, and tailored credit enhancements. The unit also houses the World Bank’s Guarantee Program.
Prior to joining the World Bank, she worked at Nomura International and Deutsche Bank as a Managing Director. She has over 20 years of structured debt markets experience in a range of sectors including transportation, energy and utilities. Prior to joining the World Bank, she worked across a broad range of debt products from infrastructure bonds, project finance, acquisition finance, bank loans, high yield, mezzanine, and asset-backed securities. She has successfully closed a number first-ever financings—working closely with issuers, institutional investors and rating agencies.
Sebnem holds a bachelor’s degree from Boğaziçi University in Istanbul and an MBA from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
