Shane Sela is a Senior Trade Facilitation Specialist with the Macroeconomics, Trade and Investment Global Practice of the World Bank Group. He is based in Washington D.C. and works with the Trade Facilitation Support Program (TFSP), which assists developing countries worldwide to align with the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement. He supports the implementation of risk-based procedures, border collaboration and automation by sanitary and phytosanitary agencies. 
Prior to joining the World Bank Group, Shane worked for the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) -  Canada’s authority for food, plant and animal. Shane’s 30+ years of experience comes from various policy setting positions at CFIA’s Plant Protection Division. He spent much of his career developing and implementing risk management programs supporting the trade of plants and plant products to and from Canada. 
He also worked with the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) Secretariat in managing the IPPC’s implementation of electronic phytosanitary certificates for plant products moving in international trade and in developing several standards for the international movement of forest products.
