Varun Singh is a senior social development specialist with GSURR Social Unit, based at the New Delhi Office of World Bank. Prior to joining the World Bank in 2009, Varun worked with the social development team of ADB & DFID for about 10 years. He worked mostly on designing and implementing externally aided operations related to social development, rural livelihoods and enterprises, natural resource development, rural development and governance, including involuntary resettlement and indigenous peoples. Varun has completed post-graduation in Development Management from University of Wales Swansea and a post graduate diploma in Forestry Management (IIFM, Bhopal).
