Yumeka Hirano

Yumeka Hirano is an Economist in the World Bank's Office of the Chief Economist for East Asia and the Pacific (EAP). Prior to joining the World Bank, Yumeka served as a Research Fellow at the Japan Society of Promotion of Science (JSPS) and as a Research Assistant at the Japan International Cooperation Agency Research Institute (JICA-RI). She also worked on a ‘Globalization and Development’ international joint research project as a Research Assistant at the Graduate School of International Development (GSID), Nagoya University. Since joining the World Bank, Yumeka has been working on the regional flagship study “Shared Prosperity in EAP” and the Technical Assistance for ASEAN on equitable economic development, while also contributing to analysis and policy notes on various regional economic issues. Yumeka holds a Ph.D. from the GSID at Nagoya University
