Zoe Elena Trohanis is originally from Chapel Hill, NC. She is based in Lima, Peru as a Senior Urban Specialist with more than 10 years of experience at the Bank in urban development and disaster risk management. She manages the Peru Cusco Regional Development Project, the Bolivia Urban Infrastructure Additional Financing, and the Dominica Disaster Vulnerability Reduction Project, along with other economic and sector work, Reimbursable Advisory Services, and technical assistance programs in these countries.
Prior to her current role, she worked in the East Asia and the Pacific (EAP) region managing various urban development projects and related work in Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines with a focus on slum upgrading, urban poverty and gender concerns, and urban resilience. She also led the Bank's dialogue on disaster risk management with the government of the Philippines, and has worked on post-disaster recovery programs in China, Indonesia, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka. Prior to her position in EAP, Zoe worked in the Urban Development anchor of the World Bank. Prior to working at the Bank, she worked in both academia and in the private sector. Zoe has a BA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and an MA from American University's School of International Service.
