Leadership Development Specialist
Amina Semlali works for the Vice President of Leadership, Learning and Innovation at the World Bank. She specializes in Senior Leadership Development and in helping leadership articulate strategy and drive change. Amina has served various capacities within - and outside of - the World Bank Group.
 
Prior to this position, Amina led the Strategic Communications work for the World Bank's Social Accountability Practice. She has also worked extensively on labor market issues for the Social Protection and Labor unit of the World Bank’s MENA Region – specializing in labor market integration, skills development and active labor market policies. She conducted applied research on poverty, inequality, labor markets and human development. Amina has worked in Yemen, Egypt, Lebanon, Palestine, Morocco and the UAE and provided policy advice to numerous governments. Moreover, she has worked on youth entrepreneurship and early childhood development issues for the World Bank’s Vice Presidency of Human Development.
 
In addition to her analytical and operational development work, she publishes on matters related to her work. Her writings (such as "Fighting Poverty in the Arab World with Soap Operas?") have appeared on various news sites. Amina is of Swedish and Moroccan origin and holds a Master’s degree in Political Science from Uppsala University, Sweden. (Twitter: @Amina_Semlali)
