Dr. Abdourahmane Sarr is President at the Center for Local Economic Development Financing (CEFDEL), a think tank based in Senegal that conducts macroeconomic surveillance and advocates for innovative local development financing solutions. He worked at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for 14 years before the CEFDEL. At the IMF, he held positions in various departments including the African Department as Resident Representative in Togo and Benin, and the Monetary and Capital Markets Department where he led missions in monetary, financial sector, debt strategy, and sovereign asset liability management related issues. He was also a senior economist in the Middle East and Central Asia Department and a macroeconomic adviser to the Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO). He has authored various studies on money, banking, and financial sector issues. Mr. SARR holds a PhD in Economics from the George Washington University, an MPA from Harvard University, and a BBA from HEC-Montreal.
