Amit Dar is the Director of Strategy and Operations for Eastern and Southern Africa. In this position, he supports the Vice President in defining and successfully implementing the strategy and work programs across the 26 countries in the region. The Vice Presidency oversees a portfolio of more than 330 projects valued at over $51 billion. An economist by training, Amit has worked extensively on education, labor markets, skills development, and social protection, as well as results-based financing. He has held various positions in South Asia and in the Social Protection Anchor Unit, including as Director, Strategy and Operations in the Human Development Practice, and Director of the Education Global Practice.
Amit holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Brown University.
