Anand Rajaram is Sector Manager for public sector and governance work in the Africa region of the World Bank. He was previously Lead Economist in the PREM anchor and guided the Bank's work on Public Finance Analysis and Management. A contrarian by nature, he is intrigued and challenged by the many ways in which economic development is thwarted by the failure of institutions and politics to address the collective action problems and resolve the underlying competition for resources.
