Water Resources Management Specialist

Andrea Juárez-Lucas is currently a Water Resources Management Specialist in the World Bank’s Water Global Practice, with professional background on hydro-informatics and adaptation to climate change to deliver integral solutions for sustainable development. Having joined the Bank in 2017 as a Young Professional, Andrea has led analytic and advisory services and supported operations on water resources management and climate resilience in Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Central America and Mozambique. She has also supported projects for water services delivery and wastewater treatment in Ecuador and Bolivia as well as analytical work on water security in Peru and Colombia. Prior to joining the Bank, Andrea has worked with international organizations (UNESCO-ICHARM in East Asia) on water-related hazards and risk management as well as in local research institutes and NGOs (in Guatemala) on ecosystem services and climate change mitigation. Andrea holds a master’s degree in Climate Studies and Water Resources Management from Wageningen University in the Netherlands and a PhD degree on Water Risk Management from the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) in Japan.
