Andrea Vermehren is a Lead Social Protection Specialist at the World Bank, presently working in the Africa Region. At the World Bank since 1999, she has led policy, operational and analytical work in Latin America, South Asia and Africa focusing on social safety nets, youth employment and labor, as well as disaster response. Andrea studied economics at the Universities of Tuebingen and Hamburg, and did her post-graduate studies in development economics at the German Development Institute (DIE) in Berlin/Bonn.
