Balikisu Osman is a consultant with the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR). She supports the Inclusive Disaster Risk Management (DRM) team in developing guidance notes and building partnerships to inform gender equality and social inclusion in the World Bank’s DRM operations. Balikisu initially joined the GFDRR as a World Bank Group Africa Fellow and has previously worked for the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), mainly on agricultural risk management and food security programs in Africa and Asia. Balikisu recently completed her PhD in Environmental Studies at York University, Toronto, Canada.
