Joao joined the communications team of the World Bank in Timor-Leste in January 2011. His main duties are to handle the World Bank Public Information Center, and to provide public access to information on World Bank Assisted projects, reports and other development related materials. He also works in raising awareness of Bank operational activities, and disseminates information locally. Prior to joining the World Bank, he was working for UNDP/UNCDF Local Government Support Programme as a Communication Officer in Dili, Timor-Leste.
