Kaspar Richter, a German national, is the World Bank’s lead economist for the Russian Federation, and Country Sector Coordinator in the Poverty Reduction and Economic Management Network in the Europe and Central Asia Region.
Since joining the Bank in 2000 through the Young Professionals Program, Richter has worked for the World Bank’s programs in Africa, Asia, and Europe. Prior to joining the Russia team in December 2011, he worked in the World Bank’s Warsaw office on public finances in Poland and on macroeconomic issues of the European Union (EU) member-states in Central and Eastern Europe.
Before joining the Bank, Richter worked for the EU-sponsored economic policy think-tank in Moscow, the Economist Intelligence Unit and for the German Ministry of Economy.
Richter holds a Ph.D. in Economics, a Master’s Degree in Econometrics and Mathematical Economics from the London School of Economics, and diplomas in economics and political science from the Freie Universitat Berlin.
