(Dr.) Meena M. Munshi, is a Senior Economist, in the sustainable Development Department in the South Asia Region of the World. Bank. Meena brings substantial technical knowledge and Bank project experience, and over 18 years experience in the Bank with senior responsibilities. Meena has worked in different capacities, and during last 15 years in the South Asia region –in countries like Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. She has lead responsibility for South Asia Region’s Community Driven Development (CDD) programs, and has designed and implemented several projects in watershed management, rural water supply and sanitation, empowerment and poverty reduction/livelihood improvement using the Community Driven Development approach. She was also chair of Gender Thematic group during 2005-06 and was responsible for initiating work on Gender and Governance study. Women empowerment/gender development is core of all her programs on the ground.
