Senior Economist, Labor Markets and Social Security Division, Inter-American Development Bank

Oliver Azuara is a Senior Economist at the Labor Markets and Social Security Division at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). Oliver leads operations and research projects focused on digital social security, the future of work, and evaluation. He focuses on how technology can facilitate job search, matching, and social security coverage. He coordinates the IDB Laboratory of Digital Social Security as well as the Labor Market Observatory. Before joining the IDB, Oliver worked as a researcher evaluating the effect of social protection programs on labor markets and designing impact evaluations on financial education and pensions. In the Mexican public sector, he has served as Director of Social Prospective at the Secretariat of Social Development (SEDESOL) and Project Manager at the Mexican Pension Funds Regulator (CONSAR). He has worked for the World Bank, NERA Economic Consulting, and Mexico Evalua and CIDAC. Oliver earned a Ph.D. in Public Policy from the University of Chicago and was a postdoctoral fellow at Yale University. He received a bachelor's degree in economics from ITAM.
