Senior Agriculture Specialist

Priti Kumar is a Senior Agriculture Specialist in the Agriculture Global Practice of the World Bank. She is task team leader of projects in agriculture, watersheds, rural livelihoods and climate resilience covering a number of states in India. She was program manager of the World Bank’s multi-donor trust funds on climate change in the Maldives and Bangladesh for several years. She has worked on analytical studies and technical assistance activities on climate resilient agriculture in India and Nepal. Ms. Kumar has been in the Bank since 16 years. She joined the Bank as a part-time consultant in 2000. In 2004, she became an Environmental Specialist in the South Asia Environment and Social Unit in the Sustainable Development Network and became Sr. Environmental Specialist in 2007.  In 2012, she joined the South Asia Disaster Risk Management and Climate Change Unit and moved to the Agriculture Practice in South Asia in 2014. Ms. Kumar holds a Masters in Systems Design Engineering focusing on groundwater systems from the University of Waterloo, Canada; a Masters in Mathematics from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi; and a Bachelors in Mathematical Statistics from the University of Delhi in India.
