Ruth Llovet Montanes

Economist in the World Bank’s Young Professionals Program (YPP)

Ruth Llovet Montanes is an economist in the World Bank’s Young Professionals Program (YPP) working in the Poverty and Equity Global Practice for Latin America and the Caribbean. Her work focuses on economic development, distributional impacts of fiscal policy, inequality, and gender. She has contributed to the country programs of Mexico, Peru, and Uruguay. Ruth has also provided technical assistance for the Pacific Island Countries, where she has analyzed the impacts of COVID-19 on poverty and inequality, examined the distributional impacts of fiscal policy in Fiji, and implemented, supervised, and analyzed the High Frequency Phone Surveys in Fiji. Prior to her current position, she worked as a research analyst in the Development Economics (DEC) unit, where she conducted empirical research on international capital flows, firms’ capital market financing, and Fintech. Ruth holds an M.Sc. in Specialized Economic Analysis and a B.A. in Economics from Pompeu Fabra University.
