Disaster Risk Management Specialist

Simone is a Disaster Risk Management Specialist at the World Bank East Asia and Pacific Disaster Risk Management Team where, since 2013, she has worked on projects related urban and community resilience, climate change adaptation, disaster risk management, and disaster risk financing. Her country experience includes Samoa, Tonga, Fiji, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, the Republic of the Marshall Islands and Papua New Guinea. Simone is the lead author of the Fiji Tropical Cyclone Winston Post-Disaster Needs Assessment (2016), the Vanuatu Tropical Cyclone Pam Post-Disaster Needs Assessment (2015), and the co-author of Climate Vulnerability Assessment – Making Fiji Climate Resilience (2017) and other World Bank publications.  Prior to joining the World Bank, she worked in both the public and private sector in Australia and the United Kingdom in a range of disaster and environment related roles.  A native to Australia, she holds a Master’s degree in International Crisis Management, a Master’s degree in Sustainability (International Development and Environmental Analysis) and a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, all of which were obtained from Monash University, Melbourne.
