Zakir Hussain

Research Fellow

Dr Zakir Husain is Research Fellow at Indian Council of World Affairs (ICWA), New Delhi. He is a political economist. His research focus is Middle East, Pakistan, US and China. He has research experience of more than 7 years. Before joining the ICWA, Dr Hussain was associated with National Labour Institute (NLI), International Labour Organisation (ILO), Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses (IDSA) and National Maritime Foundation, a Delhi-based think tank of the Indian Navy. Dr Zakir has also offered consultancy to IOM, EU, E&Y, etc. He has been a visiting scholar to several countries, including China, USA, Syria, Kuwait, etc. His three books on Saudi Arabia, GCC Nuclear policy and Arab Spring are in press. Recently he was invited by the Department of State to visit US under the prestigious International Visitors Leadership Programme (IVLP). Dr Hussain has been regularly consulted for his views by national and international media, both print and electronic. Recently, he has been rated among the top ten young Indian thinkers by a Bangaluru-based think tank, MTC Global.
