No single organization can act alone to help countries reduce their challenges of living amid fragility, conflict and violence. The World Bank’s partnerships with humanitarian, peacebuilding, security, and private sector agencies are critical for maximizing impact on the ground. By working in a coordinated approach, partners and the World Bank are making a difference together.
The World Bank’s recently published Mid-term Review of the Strategy on Fragility, Conflict and Violence (FCV) reiterated the commitment to its “mission-driven” partnership approach. Strengthening partnerships in areas that are outside the World Bank’s comparative advantage is especially important, and it remains central to the FCV Strategy’s implementation.
In an era of poly-crises, such as conflict and climate emergencies, UNDP is working with the World Bank to provide development solutions to those most affected. The humanitarian-development-peace nexus approach underpins this vital work, in countries such as Yemen and Afghanistan.
