Bo Andree is a Data Scientist in the Development Economics Data Group of the World Bank. He joined the Bank in 2017 as a consultant for the Environment and Natural Resources Global Practice. Since then, he worked in the Fragility, Conflict & Violence Global Themes on crisis analytics and now works on analytical tools for data-poor regions. He earned his Ph.D. in econometrics at the Tinbergen Institute after a B.Sc. in geology and economics and an M.Sc. in economics from the VU University Amsterdam. His research interests include forecasting, machine learning, extreme events, environmental sustainability, and poverty. His research on these topics has been published in scholarly journals such as the Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews and Agricultural Systems, while he served as a reviewer on these issues for journals such as the World Bank Economic Review and Climatic Change. He holds a visiting position at the School of Business and Economics of the VU University and advises the Food and Agriculture Organization on the use of advanced information technologies. He previously worked as a research consultant for various organizations including the OECD, Joint Research Centre, and Asian Development Bank.
