Carolina Diaz-Bonilla is a Senior Economist and Global Lead of the Data for Goals global team in the Poverty and Equity Global Practice of the World Bank. She currently leads the poverty program in Botswana and Namibia in the East and South Africa region. She joined the World Bank in 2004 and has also worked in the Development Economics Prospects Group as well as the Poverty units of both the Latin America and Caribbean and the East Asia and Pacific regions. Between 2013-2019, Carolina also taught a one-semester evening course in Computable General Equilibrium modeling at the Applied Economics Master’s program of the Johns Hopkins University. Prior to joining the Bank, she worked in the Trade and Macroeconomics Division of the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) and as a Research Associate at American University. Her areas of expertise include poverty and inequality measurement and analytics, labor economics, statistical capacity building, macro- and micro-simulation modelling, and policy analysis. She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the Johns Hopkins University.
