Punam Chuhan-Pole is a Lead Economist in the Corporate IDA & IBRD Department (DFCII) at the World Bank. Her work is focused on debt issues and implementing IDA’s new debt policy, and she has written reports on debt vulnerabilities in poor countries, policy options for IDA, and progress in implementing the new Sustainable Development Finance Policy.
She has led the development and production of Africa’s Pulse, a semi-annual publication presenting economic trends and prospects for the region’s economies and analysis of issues shaping Africa’s future. Her research includes analysis of capital flows, assessing fiscal space, exploring the socioeconomic impact of mining on local communities, and examining success stories in the context of Africa’s development progress.
