Sólrún (Sola) Engilbertsdóttir is a child poverty specialist with UNICEF’s Social Policy team. Sola has extensive experience working and living in the East Africa region, including in Tanzania, Kenya and Rwanda – where she managed large scale research projects for UNICEF, including the first ever Rwandan multidimensional child poverty analysis as well as evaluations of linking social protection with nutrition and early childhood development programming. She currently guides UNICEF’s child poverty efforts globally, including global child poverty advocacy, supporting UNICEF country offices translate child poverty evidence into policy action, as well as co-chairing the Global Coalition to End Child Poverty. Prior to joining UNICEF, Sola was a social worker in her native country, Iceland. She holds an MPA, with a focus on social policy, from Columbia University.
