Swati Sachdeva is an Urban Specialist with Urban, Resilience and Land Global Practice at the World Bank. Trained as an urban designer and architect, she has 15 years of multi-sectoral experience in sustainable urban development, disaster-risk management, and climate-change in 25+ cities across regions. At the Bank, she has worked on multiple operational as well as analytical and research projects, especially in fragile, conflict and violence affected countries. Most recently, as focal point for Paris Alignment and fragility in her unit, her most recent work focuses on multiple urban crises, urban forced displacement, durable solution for forcibly displaced population, community-led climate adaptation, livable cities, city-level GHG emissions and energy-efficient buildings, issues around social, spatial, and economic inclusion in informal settlements, and lastly, alignment of urban pipeline operations with country's climate commitments and Paris agreement. Previously, she worked in the private sector and with nonprofits in Mumbai, Kolkata, Pune, and New York. She has a master’s degree in urban design from University of California, Berkeley. Swati is a hobbyist photographer, and in her free time, she loves hiking and painting.
