The prestigious National Academy of Medicine today named Tim Evans, World Bank’s Senior Director of Health Nutrition and Population, as a new member, in recognition of his distinguished contribution to medicine and health. Tim will be among 70 new members and 9 international members inducted this year.  New members of NAM are chosen by their peers in the field of health and medicine for their exceptional work.

“I’m humbled and honored to join this distinguished group, many of whom have helped change the face of medicine and public health” Tim Evans said Monday. “The growing focus of the National Academy of Medicine on global health will bolster our health, nutrition and population practice at the World Bank Group and help countries to accelerate progress towards Universal Health Coverage”.

The National Academy of Medicine works with the National Academy of Sciences and National Academy of Engineering to provide independent, objective analysis and advice to the nation, support research, and inform public policy decisions. Membership in the NAM is considered one of the highest honors in the fields of health and medicine and recognizes individuals who have demonstrated outstanding professional achievements and commitment to service.  Today’s newly elected members raise NAM’s total active membership to 1,947 and the number of international members to 146.
