Energy prices surged 8.3% in September, led by oil (+9.1%) and coal (+6.5%), the World Bank's Pink Sheet reported. Non-energy prices gained 1.5%.
Agricultural prices rose 1.6% in September. Food prices increased 2.0%, led by grains (+2.0%) and other food items (+4.1%). Beverages rose 1.1% while raw materials and fertilizers changed little.
Metal prices increased by 1.5% in September, led by iron ore (+9.8%), lead (+4.6%), and zinc (+3.7%). Precious metals eased by 0.3%.
