Energy prices gained 9.4% in June, following increases in all components—oil (+8.1%), coal (+21.4%), and natural gas (+13%), the World Bank’s Pink Sheet reported. Non-energy prices eased 1.4%.
Agricultural prices declined 2.2% in June. Food prices dropped 3%, led by losses in oils & meals (-5.9%) and grains (-3.2%). Beverage increased 1.3% while raw materials eased 1%. Fertilizer prices surged nearly 13%.
Metal prices eased 1.2% in June, following a large drop in copper (-5.2%); iron ore and nickel gained 3.2% and 2.3%, respectively, while the other metals changed little. Precious metals were down 1.1%, led by a 7.4% decline in platinum.
