Andrea Barone is a Consultant in the Chief Economist Office for the Middle East and North Africa Region (on leave from the Italian Competition Authority, where he is a senior economist). He has broad antitrust and consumer protection experience in different sectors (telecoms, media and broadcasting, banking and finance, payment systems, manufacturing, retail, health appliances). He is also a Registered National Expert for EU competition and consumer protection law and policy within TAIEX, the Technical Assistance and Information Exchange instrument of the European Commission. He holds a PhD in Economics from the European University Institute and a MSc in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science.
