Aziza Umarova

Aziza Umarova serves as CEO of SmartGov Consulting, a boutique consulting firm providing advisory service in public sector reform in Eurasia. Previously, she spent ten years working with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP): first leading the multimillion governance portfolio in Uzbekistan, and later as an Advisor on Public Sector Innovation at the UNDP's Global Centre for Public Service Excellence (GCPSE) in Singapore, where she remains an honorary fellow. Her expertise spans innovation in public sector, anti-corruption and integrity, public service delivery, eGovernance and digital strategy, digital disruptions for enhanced public efficiency. She recently joined Singapore's Govinsider media platform as the Associate Editor for Eurasia and columnist- at-large, catering to the audience of over 1.1 million government officials worldwide. Aziza also participates as monitoring expert, assessing compliance of selected countries under OECD’s Anti-Corruption Network in the region of Eastern Europe and Central Asia. A graduate of the University of St Andrews, Great Britain, she was a Chevening scholar and a fellow of several international prestigious programs and awards. Aziza has lived and worked in Uzbekistan, China, Austria, and Singapore.
