Claudia Vargas is a Public Sector Specialist for the Fiscal Policy and Sustainable Growth Global Unit of the World Bank Group (WBG). She joined the WBG in 2016 to provide technical expertise to the LAC Tax Simplification Program. Her work focuses on extensive assistance to several developing countries (with a focus on the LAC region), including diagnostic assessments on tax policy and tax administration, and support on international tax issues. Prior to joining the bank, she was an international tax associate with Ernst & Young and also served the Peruvian Tax Administration (SUNAT). She holds a JD from Catholic University in Peru and a Masters of Law (LLM) in Taxation from Georgetown University. She is admitted to practice law in New York and Lima.
