Gianluca Cafagna is a health specialist (ETC) at the Health, Nutrition and Population Global Practice of the World Bank. Since he joined the Bank in February 2020, Gianluca has supported and led country engagements and analytical activities of the Primary Health Care Performance Initiative (PHCPI). Also, he has contributed to the preparation of COVID-19 emergency response projects. Prior to the World Bank, Gianluca worked as an Associate Professional Officer at the Inter-American Development Bank in Washington DC and as a Fellow at the United Nations Development Programme in Panama City. An Italian national, Gianluca holds a Ph.D. in Healthcare Management from the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa, with a thesis on equity in healthcare performance measurement, and a MSc in Economic and Social Sciences from the Bocconi University in Milan.
