Dr. Hyla Kluyts is an anaesthesiologist and Head Clinical Unit (Perioperative Medicine) in the Department of Anaesthesiology at Dr. George Mukhari Academic Hospital and Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University, Gauteng, South Africa. She is executive director of Safe Surgery SA, an initiative promoting clinician-driven health information exchange to enhance the quality and safety of perioperative care in South Africa. Safe Surgery SA provides support to the SA Perioperative Research Group (SAPORG) and established platforms for a Perioperative Clinical Registry (PCR). Hyla was National Lead Investigator for South Africa in the African Surgical Outcomes Study (ASOS).
