Associate Scientist, University of Colorado / NOAA

Kimberly Baugh is a research scientist at the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES) at the University of Colorado, Boulder. She worked for 25 years within the Earth Observation Group at the NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) as lead developer for nighttime lights product generation. Her work utilized nighttime data from the VIIRS-DNB and DMSP-OLS sensors developing algorithms to produce three global product lines: nighttime lights, nighttime boat detections, and fires at night. She continues to work within NOAA/NCEI to make these satellite data more accessible to the research community.
