Naraya Carrasco, Senior Disaster Risk Management and Climate Specialist, is a secondee from the Swiss Government, and works at the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR) with both the Resilience to Climate Change team and the Small Island States Resilience Initiative. She focuses on supporting developing countries understand climate and disaster risks and plan for resilient development pathways. She also supports operational teams implement adaptation projects. Before joining GFDRR, she was a Programme Officer at the Global Programme Climate Change, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). Naraya holds a degree in Environmental Engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL) and a Ph.D. in science from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETHZ). She is both a Swiss and Bolivian citizen, and is fluent in English, Spanish, French, German and Italian.
