Senior Associate, Inter-American Development Bank

Odette Maciel joined the Office of Evaluation and Oversight (OVE) at the Inter-American Development Bank as Economics Senior Associate in 2017. She also worked for three years as a Research Fellow in OVE (2013-2016) where she collaborated in several evaluations, including a comparative evaluation of the IDB Support to the Conditional Cash Transfer programs in Honduras, El Salvador and Guatemala.

Prior to her current role, she worked as a consultant in the World Bank’s Social Protection and Jobs Global Practice where she collaborated in the design and implementation of qualitative instruments to identify the characteristics, constraints and opportunities to start and grow household enterprises among poor families in Tanzania. In Mexico, she worked at the Ministry of Social Development (2007-2008), and in the Executive Office of the President of Mexico (2008-2011) on topics related to poverty reduction, social policy and labor economics. Her professional experience also includes working in Indonesia at the National Team for Accelerating Poverty Reduction (TNP2K). She holds a Master in Public Administration in International Development from Harvard Kennedy School, and a dual-Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Political Science from ITAM in Mexico.
