Reem F. Alsukait, PhD, is a Health Specialist (ET consultant) in the World Bank’s Health, Nutrition and Population Global Practice. She is currently based in Saudi Arabia, where she is supporting the World Bank’s engagement in the health sector, specifically in the areas of nutrition related diseases such as obesity, non-communicable diseases, and more recently covid-19 related responses. Prior to joining the bank, she worked both in the United States and Saudi Arabia at the intersection of public health, nutrition, and policy. Her work evaluating the impact of Saudi Arabia’s sugar sweetened beverage tax has been published at Food Policy and Economics and Human Biology. She obtained her bachelor’s in Clinical Nutrition from King Abdulaziz University, her masters in Public Health from Tufts University’s School of Medicine, and her PhD in Food and Nutrition Policy and Programs from Tufts University’s Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy where she received the 2020 Joan M. Bergstrom Award for Excellence in Global Nutrition.
