Suneet Singh Tuli founded Datawind to empower the next 3 billion people with computing and internet access. The company provides highly affordable wireless access products and services, including the $35 Aakash/UbiSlate tablets. It is the number three tablet maker in the Indian market. Having initially focused on India, the company is now looking at other markets where the main barrier to technology adoption is affordability.

In this interview, Tuli discusses how internet access allows people living in remote areas to get better at their jobs, both through e-commerce as well as through education. But while the technology is developing at a rapid pace, the bureaucratic delays – especially around licensing and logistics – are preventing the full development impact from being realized
