Commodity prices post modest gains in October—Pink Sheet

Energy prices gained 2.4% in October, with natural gas Europe leading the increase (+9.6%), the World Bank's Pink Sheet reported. Non-energy prices increased by 2.1%.

Agricultural prices inched up 0.7% in October. Food prices went up by 1.4%, driven by oils & meals (+5.3%). Raw materials changed little, while beverages eased 1%. Fertilizer prices rose by 4%.

Metal prices surged by 5%, led by gains in zinc and iron ore (each up more than 9%) and aluminum (+5.9%). Precious metals climbed by 5.1%, with silver (+7.6%) leading the increase.
