Energy prices saw a decline in May, according to the World Bank's Pink Sheet. Crude oil led the decrease with a 7.5% drop, contributing to an overall 6.4% decrease in energy prices. Non-energy prices changed little, as a group.
Agricultural prices fell by 2.2% in May. Food prices increased by 1.3%, driven by grains (+4.8%) and oils & meals (+1.8%). Beverage prices plunged 13.8%, while raw materials changed little. Fertilizer prices decreased by 4.7%.
Metal prices surged by 5.5% in May, led by zinc (+8.3%), nickel (+7.8%), and copper (+7.1%). Precious metals also rose, with silver (+6.8%) and platinum (+7.9%) leading the gains.
