If you have not had the chance to keep track of the latest business and management thinking, Harvard Business Review has two suggestions to go top of your list, both relevant to broader PSD thinking. A panel of luminaries from business, NGOs and academia have selected Michael Porter and Mark Kramer as winners of the 2006 McKinsey Award for the best article of the past year offering both original theoretical insights and direction for their practical application.
Their piece on Strategy and Society: The Link Between Competitive Advantage and Corporate Social Responsibility pipped Gary Hamel’s article on management innovation for top spot. If you move quickly you can read both the Porter-Kramer and the Hamel articles for free via the HBR site. You can also read more on the winning piece in this past blog entry.
